Wellbeing Treats for Staff

Letterbox treats have been greatly received by our members of staff this week, in honor of Wellbeing Week.

It is important to proactively look after your wellbeing, now more than ever. Working from home or self-isolating can be stressful and impact how you think, feel and behave. Prioritising your wellbeing and taking time out for yourself can make a real difference.

This is why ROC sent all their employees a box of treats to help them focus on their wellbeing.  We recognise the hard work and commitment that everyone has put in over the last, very difficult, 15 months and hope the box of goodies goes some way to show that we care about each individual.

The brilliant treat boxes are courtesy of Saunders Sisters Events, who collaborated with The First Aid Company to create the wonderful self-care checklist featured in the boxes. We cannot recommend both lovely, local suppliers enough – be sure to check them out:

We aim to share a range of communications, from company and industry updates, to health & wellness ideas (and everything in between!).  We want this platform to be valuable to our team, so we aim to gather regular feedback and suggestions from them.

ROC Team News

Paul Smith Company News 2

This years Mental Health Awareness campaign focused on a theme of getting outside to improve our mental and physical health.  When ROC encouraged our employees to get outside and share their individual experiences, we learnt about an exceptional member of our team….

Paul Smith, ROCMEP Site Manager, founded a running group ‘Pound Hill Pounders’ during the COVID pandemic: a free running group in his local town to encourage local people to get outside and do something positive for their mental and physical well-being.

During the tough lockdowns, Paul recognised that sometimes getting out for a run and a chat was all he needed to clear his head and make a good start to the day.  Creating the local group meant that individuals could find a running buddy without breaking any government guidelines.

Paul says, “the reaction has been overwhelming and we have formed a huge support network, from beginners celebrating their “Couch to 5K” challenge, new friendships and a growing community exchanging expertise. As a group, we are really excited about what our future holds!”

During the month of May, Paul took on a personal challenge where he ran an incredible total of 500km over the month, raising money for the charity Mind, a charity close to his heart.

And it doesn’t stop there…. in June, he will be joining some of his colleagues as they take on the Brighton Half Marathon.

Through all of this, Paul has certainly shown ROC’s core values on a daily basis:

  • Commit and deliver
  • Belief in our product
  • Achieve something every day
  • I have your back

Well done, Paul!

Brighton Half Marathon fundraiser

Brighton half marathonROCMEP has entered a team to take part in the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 27th June. As one of the longest established and most popular races in the UK it is a significant fundraising event for many worthy charities and causes.

Our chosen charity this year is Rockinghorse, a Brighton-based charity set up to improve healthcare services for sick and disadvantaged babies, children and teenagers. The charity provides life-saving and cutting-edge rocking-horse-charitymedical equipment and services to ensure that all young people are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.

Our aim is to run for fun, whilst raising money for such a worthy cause. If you are able to donate, please visit our JustGiving Page.

New name: small change, big ambitions

ROC faviconWe are delighted to announce that the name of our company has changed from Roc Electrical Limited to ROCMEP Limited.

It may seem like a small difference, but the shift is a significant one

Our business has grown from being an electrical contractor to providing a full range of mechanical and engineering services. So, this name change reflects our capability and our ambitious, long-term strategy to become a top-tier M&E contractor in the UK and Europe.

Please note that our company number, head office address and trading history all stay the same.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our colleagues, partners and clients for all your ongoing support which has led to our successful evolution. ROCMEP looks forward to working with you to deliver the best solutions for your future M&E projects.

ROCMEP – Working safely through COVID-19

Director Declan Roche, explains some of the measures ROCMEP is taking throughout the pandemic to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who works with and for ROCMEP.

On-site

Working-safely-through-COVID-19We’ve put in a wide range of health and safety measures on site and in offices. These include:

  • Providing PPE and secure snood face coverings.
  • Reducing physical interaction and enabling everyone to socially distance through signage and one-way systems.
  • Installing rapid tests and thermometers to detect and curb the spread of the virus.
  • Cleaning surfaces and equipment more frequently, and installing handwashing points and sanitisers across the site
  • Giving all site visitors a safety induction to ensure they fully understand the measures on site to protect themselves and others.

Off-site

ROCMEP staff are working and collaborating remotely wherever possible; sharing and communicating online. We’ve upgraded our hardware and software, and use the latest web-conferencing tools to hold virtual meetings with clients and partners. We’ll keep improving our connectivity and ways of interacting to work more efficiently.

Keeping flexible, responding fast, staying resilient

The COVID-19 crisis is continuously evolving, and we meet regularly so we can respond swiftly to any changes and keep everyone in our team up to date with the latest health and safety measures.

All our work is carried out in accordance with the Construction Leadership Council Safe Site Operating Procedures (SOP) which is based on Government advice.

A big thanks to all our teams, sub-contractors and clients for their efforts and patience during this difficult time.

Apprenticeship Scheme

As ROCMEP continues to grow as a national M&E contractor, we have brought some new young talent into our apprenticeship scheme.

Our Managing Director, Declan Roche, recently sat with five of our existing apprentices with the aim to “Inspire” this new generation. In fact, it was he who came away feeling inspired by each of the apprentices, in particular by their enthusiasm and ethos. Declan believes that now is the time that the industry needs to step up in its pursuit of young talent to make it stronger.

We thought we would share a few photos of two of our year 3 apprentices, hard at work and we are excited to be a part of their continued development within the ROCMEP.
