SEXY FISH: The ROC Team Brings Richard Caring’s New Restaurant to Life

With the help of ROC’s powerhouse of Electrical, Mechanical and Solutions services, West End dining and clubs tycoon Richard Caring has just opened a luxurious new Asian-styled fish restaurant and cocktail bar, with a name sure to turn heads: SEXY FISH.

The new hot ticket in London is situated over the road from other ROC projects: Berkeley Square’s Annabel’s and Mayfair’s Mark’s Club, both of which were also created by Richard Caring.

If you’ve been strolling around Mayfair sometime within the last couple of months, you may have noticed the visage of a gigantic neon shark adorned across the hoardings of a site under construction, a strange sight, even for London. Behind this bizarre image, ROC’s expert team were busy installing SEXY FISH’s M&E systems.

Fittingly enough, ROC has already had a hand in the service installations of a number of these exclusive hotspots, including Mayfair’s 34 Grosvenor Square, Electric House on Portobello Road and more of Mr. Caring’s restaurant locations, notably J Sheekey and the world-famous celebrity hangout The Ivy in Covent Garden. Due to the excellent relationship established during these past projects, and the highest quality of work ROC have provided to Mr. Caring in the past, it is no surprise that we were chosen once more to accommodate his needs once more. This vital relationship was brought about by our friends at Arcacia Consulting, who introduced Caprice Holdings and Richard Caring to ROC’s services in the first place.

On this project ROC worked hand in hand with Maurice Brill Lighting Design and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio to create a stunning internal atmosphere, as well as setting up gas, plumbing, heating, access control, phone lines and data cabling to support the vital booking system. All of these systems have been put through their paces since the doors of SEXY FISH opened up to the public.

ROC’s Operations Director, Cahal McNicholl, said: “Working on projects such as SEXY FISH is very important to us and to be part of developments like this continues to raise our profile.” Cahal added: “At ROC we always strive to deliver what the client asks for, ensuring that each job has the wow factor.”

Four Thousand Shining Lights: ROC and the Hilton London Bankside

For all of its claims to history, London might be the most constantly-updated city anyone could have the pleasure to walk through. New developments seem to squeeze themselves in between already-existing buildings while you weren’t looking, like a commuter elbowing their way onto the underground during the early morning rush.

What a breath of fresh air it is then to walk along an area as exclusive as the bankside and still see a brand new establishment with room to breathe. This rare sight is ROC’s newest hotel project: The Hilton Bankside, a moment’s walk away from The Shard and the Tate Modern gallery.

Designed over a period of two years and with a gruelling fifteen month development, ROC’s team worked hand in hand with Hilton’s own design staff to see the project to completion. ROC Operations Director Brian McCloskey was on site to manage the development from conception to completion, a task he called “one of the more rewarding projects I’ve been lucky enough to work on recently.”

Brian and the team at ROC provided the planning and installation of the usual needs of a hotel, from lighting and power installation for all rooms, to advanced data infrastructure services such as CCTV, Access Control and Intruder and Panic Alarms. However, this project demanded more than just the basics from Brian and the team.

“This is a Hilton. We knew going in that we were going to be working on something special.” Brian oversaw the installation and development of a very large interior pool and gym area, as well as a “very impressive” Presidential Suite. “Every single room required a unique approach, and on a couple of occasions we met challenges that forced us to adapt to change, which was particularly tricky because we were all on a tight deadline.”

The largest challenge faced by the team was the installation of the hotel’s centre ballroom – the 2nd largest in London’s history, adorned with twelve spectacular chandeliers, each over five metres long and 1.2 metres wide. “There are four thousand lights in those alone”, Brian is rightly proud to say. Almost bordering on the ludicrous, the ballroom also boasts four separator screens that descend from the ceiling to divide the enormous space into individual function rooms.

It sounds like an exhausting project, but Brian says the fifteen month development “went very well”, a testament to the importance of forward-planning and hiring an experienced team for the job.

As part of their continuing Hilton@Play worldwide events, the Hilton London Bankside finally celebrated its launch on the 22th of October, in a lavish yet intimate gig headlined by Pop and Soul star Jess Glynne. A hotel launch may seem an unusual occasion for a singer, but the Bankside proves itself to be worthy of such attention. Brian certainly thinks so. “I was fortunate enough to attend and the ballroom certainly shone bright that night.”

With the Hilton Bankside and Richard Caring’s newest London restaurant SEXY FISH both opening their doors last month, Brian and ROC’s other Operations Directors are already in the planning stages for the next additions to London’s eclectic landscape.
