ROC Women in Construction

We recently had great “ROC Women in Construction” get together hosted by our Founding Director, Declan Roche. Wonderfully open discussions on how we can move things forward in our industry and how we can encourage more people to come into the great world of construction. We also chatted about how we can help to spread the word on the range of great careers that are on offer across construction.

The energy from everyone was fantastic – we’re all very proud to be part of the journey ROC is on and the values it truly lives by.

“I feel very proud where we have got to so far as a company and events like this really set us on the right track for growth. My ambition of becoming even more collaborative as an industry will only be supported by having more diversity: people with different approaches and ideas. Success for me is surrounding yourself with great people and achieving together.”  – Declan Roche

ROC Grad Scheme

Welcome to our newest team member: Karla, who join us a Trainee Degree Apprentice.

Karla joins us on an initial 1 Year placement ahead of embarking on a University Course (Building Services Degree) in September 2022, whilst continuing to work for ROC.

Throughout Karla’s placement, she will be based across all functions of the business, giving her a full array of exposure to ROC, from estimating, delivery, procurement and commercial.

Karla is currently placed with our operations team, working alongside Rick Whittle and his team at Project Paddington Square, a Mace project, leaning about our onsite processes, install and delivery, testing & commissioning and overall project management.

“Karla has impressed us all with how keen she is to learn; she isn’t shy and wants to get involved in all departments of the project team she has been placed.  Karla will be a great addition to the business, and I wish her well on her journey through all ROC functions, and within the construction industry.” – Rick Whittle Senior Project Manager

Next week, Karla’s operations placement will see her at Project SQP4, a Berkley Homes project, where she will spend a good proportion of her time gaining an understanding of the design element of this project.

ROC are committed to taking on apprentices and graduates as part of our growth strategy and helping young-talent into the industry. Young people can provide new ways of thinking and offer a fresh perspective to our business.

“Since day 1, I felt part of the team at ROC. Everyone is fully invested in my learning and is willingly passing on years of experience through interactive learning. No day is the same and I cannot wait to see my journey progress with ROC in the future.” – Karla Solino.

We are looking forward to watching Karla flourish, and being a part of her journey to success.
